Writing once again

Sun Apr 20, 2008, 8:32 AM
Yep, school is winding down, summer is coming, and I've begun to write regularly once again. If you want to read horrifically bad fanfiction, go here:

Most of this was done in high school, so..yeah, that explains that.

I've also become obsessed with my novel, Ashodel. Like, I'm writing a movie soundtrack on Finale. But I know it's not the most accessible story...I need serious help making things accessible to readers with a typical attention span. Right now I think I only reach people with infinite patience, in both fanfic and original writing.

In addition, I appear to be obsessed with India lately. My Eat, Pray, Love picture is not exactly a manifestation of my obsession, but it's certainly along the right track. Bollywood emits from my speakers lately. And my mouth. I think I'm learning Hindi.

So, that's me...just doing nothing until work starts in two weeks. School kind of disappeared on me. I don't object, and I like being able to write every day, even if it's only fanfic, but the lack of assignments makes me paranoid. I feel as though I'm forgetting some huge and terrible assignment. In fact, my exams are going to be easy as cake, and I have no looming projects. So I'm in this weird college limbo. Yep. I'm going to attempt to do something productive now.

I believe that telling a story in the best way possible is more important than telling it in a way that will get more people to read it. I'm not sure if I'm even touching on what you meant here, but don't compromise your vision for the sake of the way a book "should" be, is all.

That's kind of what I mean, kind of not. After my novel class, I figured out that people need to be able to identify with your characters in order to care about the story. I think you read the very first draft, right? Not exactly something people will empathize with. I don't want to change the story, but I need to learn to make it more universal. And all this wouldn't matter, but I do want to be published. :P

yep now you gotta use the time you have off to your advantage. once it's gone it's gone.

i skimmed through your writing a bit. it's actually not as bad as you let on. i only caught a couple of grammatical errors i.e. run-on sentences, but that's about it. you say you did this in high school, so i'm sure you've improved quite a bit by now.

Yep...that time I had is now gone LOL. I forgot about a mega English assignment due on Thursday. I pretty much have ten hours of writing by hand ahead of me. Oh, dear.

Run-on sentences are so not grammatical errors. :P *huggles long sentences*

I was really referring to the content of my stuff more than the mechanics of it. I'm sorry you read it, but thank you for taking the time!:)
